Abstract

Healthcare organizations generate large volumes of heterogeneous data through electronic health records, clinical notes, diagnostic systems, medical imaging, laboratory information systems, wearable devices, telemedicine platforms, and health information exchanges. Despite substantial advances in digital healthcare, the fragmentation of these systems continues to create significant interoperability challenges. Data stored across different platforms frequently differs in structure, terminology, semantics, and accessibility, limiting the ability of healthcare professionals and institutions to exchange and interpret information efficiently. This paper examines an integrated technological framework that combines artificial intelligence (AI), natural language processing (NLP), distributed computing, and blockchain to improve healthcare data integration and interoperability. AI can support intelligent data transformation, anomaly detection, and automated decision support, while NLP can convert unstructured clinical narratives into structured and interoperable representations. Distributed computing can provide scalable processing infrastructure for large healthcare datasets, whereas blockchain can contribute tamper-evident records, decentralized verification, and improved data-sharing accountability. The proposed conceptual framework explores how these technologies can work together rather than operating as isolated solutions. Particular attention is given to semantic interoperability, privacy, scalability, data integrity, and cross-organizational exchange. The paper also discusses implementation challenges, including computational requirements, regulatory compliance, model reliability, blockchain scalability, and integration with existing healthcare infrastructure. The findings suggest that a coordinated architecture combining AI-based intelligence with distributed infrastructure and blockchain-supported trust mechanisms can provide a foundation for more secure, scalable, and semantically consistent healthcare information exchange.
