Plagiarism Policy

Plagiarism Policy of the Euro Vantage Journal of Artificial Intelligence (EVJAI)

The Euro Vantage Journal of Artificial Intelligence (EVJAI) strictly adheres to the plagiarism guidelines set by the Higher Education Commission (HEC). As per HEC policy, a manuscript will be considered for publication only if the overall similarity index is below 19%, with no single source exceeding 5% similarity. Any submission that exceeds these limits will be rejected immediately.

1. Definition of Plagiarism

Plagiarism is the unethical act of using someone else’s work, ideas, or intellectual property without proper attribution. This includes:

  • Direct Plagiarism: Copying text, figures, tables, or data from another source without citation.
  • Self-Plagiarism (Redundant Publication): Reusing significant portions of an author's previously published work without proper citation.
  • Mosaic Plagiarism: Paraphrasing another author's work while maintaining the original structure and meaning without acknowledgment.
  • Inaccurate Citation: Failing to properly cite sources or misrepresenting a source.
  • Image and Data Plagiarism: Using figures, images, datasets, or code from other works without appropriate permission and citation.

2. Plagiarism Detection Process

  • All submitted manuscripts are screened using plagiarism detection software (e.g., Turnitin, iThenticate, or similar tools).
  • Any manuscript with a similarity index exceeding 15% (excluding references and common phrases) will be subject to further review.
  • Manuscripts found to contain more than 10% similarity from a single source will be flagged for possible plagiarism.
  • If minor plagiarism is detected, authors will be asked to revise and properly cite the sources.
  • In cases of significant plagiarism, the manuscript will be rejected immediately and authors may be banned from future submissions.

3. Consequences of Plagiarism

If plagiarism is detected at any stage (before or after publication), the following actions will be taken:

  • Before publication: The submission will be rejected, and authors will be notified of the reason.
  • After publication:
    • A formal retraction notice will be issued.
    • The article will be removed from the journal archives.
    • The authors' institution and funding bodies may be informed.
    • The authors may be blacklisted from submitting to EVJAI in the future.

4. Guidelines for Authors

To avoid plagiarism, authors should:

  • Properly cite all sources, including direct quotes, paraphrased text, images, data, and code.
  • Use quotation marks for directly copied text and provide proper references.
  • Ensure that submitted work is original and has not been published elsewhere.
  • If reusing previously published work (e.g., methodology, figures), provide proper attribution and obtain necessary permissions.
  • Use plagiarism detection software to check their manuscript before submission.

5. Ethical Responsibility of Authors, Reviewers, and Editors

  • Authors must ensure that their work is original and free of plagiarism.
  • Reviewers should report any suspected plagiarism in the manuscripts they review.
  • Editors will thoroughly investigate plagiarism allegations and take appropriate actions in accordance with COPE guidelines.

By enforcing this strict plagiarism policy, the Euro Vantage Journal of Artificial Intelligence ensures the publication of high-quality, original research that upholds academic integrity and contributes responsibly to the field of Artificial Intelligence.
